North Carolina’s Senate & Gubernatorial Races Offer Opportunity to Highlight Disability Rights

Washington, Oct. 21 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in North Carolina, RespectAbility has released its North Carolina Disability Voter guide for the upcoming senate, gubernatorial and presidential races.

Democrat hopeful Deborah Ross is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Richard Burr for the Senate seat representing North Carolina. Both candidates completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for Senate and Gubernatorial Candidates for people with disabilities. However, both candidates running for governor, Atty. Gen. Roy Cooper and incumbent Gov. Pat McCrory, have not yet responded.

Hawaii’s Senate Race Offers Opportunity to Highlight Disability Rights

Washington, Oct. 19 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Hawaii, RespectAbility has released its Hawaii Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming senate and presidential races. Republican John Carroll, who is challenging incumbent Democrat Sen. Brian Schatz, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. Hawaii’s 159,475 citizens with disabilities now have a chance to read Carroll’s responses and understand where he lies on certain issues. RespectAbility is still awaiting responses from Brian Schatz and will publish them verbatim if and when they are received.

Delaware’s Gubernatorial Race Offers Opportunity to Highlight Disability Rights

Washington, Oct. 19 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Delaware, RespectAbility has released its Delaware Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming gubernatorial and presidential races. Republican state Sen. Colin Bonini and Democratic Rep. John Carney are competing to become Delaware’s next governor. Whomever wins will have big shoes to fill as current Delaware Gov. Jack Markell, who is term limited, is a hero to the disability community. Markell was awarded recognition by RespectAbility this summer for his leadership nationally in creating more job opportunities for people with disabilities.

Washington, Oct. 18 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Illinois, RespectAbility has released its Illinois Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming senate and presidential races. Democrat Tammy Duckworth, who is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Mark Kirk, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, all have completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. The race between the two senate candidates is unique, as both candidates have a disability.

Bryant, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. Inslee, Murray and Vance have not completed the questionnaire.

Pennsylvania Voter Guide Highlights Disability Issues

Washington, Oct. 17 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Pennsylvania, RespectAbility has released its Pennsylvania Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming senate and presidential races. Democrat Katie McGinty, who is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Pat Toomey, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. Toomey has not yet responded to the questionnaire.

Twenty-six candidates for Senate, as well as eleven candidates for governor, from both sides of the aisle (22 Democrats, 14 Republicans, 1 Green Party) have responded with answers to the questionnaire so far, showing that disability rights is a nonpartisan issue. An additional nine candidates responded that they are not completing any questionnaires during this campaign season. The responses also are geographically-diverse, coming from states all around the country, as politicians are paying more and more attention to the disability community.

Oregon Voter Guide Highlights Disability Issues

Washington, Oct. 17 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Oregon, RespectAbility has released its Oregon Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming senate, gubernatorial, and presidential races. Republicans Bud Pierce and Mark Callahan, who are challenging incumbent Democrats Kate Brown and Ron Wyden for governor and senator, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, have completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. Wyden and Brown have not yet responded to the questionnaire.

Democrat Patrick Wiesner, who is challenging incumbent Republican Sen. Jerry Moran, as well as presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, has completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for people with disabilities. Moran has not yet responded to the questionnaire.

Ohio’s Disability Voters Guide Released

Please see the updated Ohio voter guide, as Green Party candidate Joe DeMare completed the survey after this original guide was published. 

Washington, Oct. 15 – As voters get ready to head to the polls in Ohio, Respectability is releasing its Ohio Disability Voter Guide for the upcoming senate and presidential elections. Democrat Ted Strickland and Republican Rob Portman are seeking the senate seat. Unfortunately for the 1,555,348 people with disabilities in the state of Ohio, neither have completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for Senate and Gubernatorial Candidates for people with disabilities. Green Party candidate Joe DeMare requested a copy of the questionnaire but has not yet returned a response.

Unfortunately for the 208,830 civilians with a disability in Idaho, neither have completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for Senate and Gubernatorial Candidates for people with disabilities.

Unfortunately for the 560,237 citizens with a disability living in Colorado, neither candidate has completed the #PwDsVote Disability Campaign Questionnaire for Senate and Gubernatorial Candidates for people with disabilities.
